Congratulations to our 2014 MAR-DEL Queen Miss Shelby Hurley on being chosen as
Miss Jubilee at the National Watermelon Convention in La Quinta,CA!
Shelby represented our association very well and we are so proud of her!



The new 2015 Mar-Del Watermelon Queen is Miss Courtney Hastings!

Courtney is the 22 year old daughter of Shelley Hastings, the late Ray Hastings, and Dr. William Lane of Laurel, DE.  Courtney is a student at Stevenson University, where she will graduate from in May.  After graduation,Courtney plans on obtaining her Master’s degree in Communication Management, while working full-time in a public relations related position.  After gaining experience, she would like to own her own public relations firm and become a published author. Courtney’s hobbies include traveling, playing sports, running, reading, writing, colorguard, photography, dance, and design.

Our Queen is chosen during our Annual Convention each February, for service through the following January. 
Rules and application for the 2015 Queen competition will be available in December.


The Mar-Del Watermelon Queen is our Association's representative at local, regional and national events.  Her duties include educating the public on the health benefits of watermelon, and promoting the importance of supporting our local watermelon farmers. 

She is available throughout the year for public engagements, and
requests for our Queen's participation in an event are organized through our
Queen Coordinator
