The Maryland-Delaware Watermelon Association was formed in the 1950’s. In 2005, the association celebrated it’s 40th Annual Banquet and Convention in Ocean City, Maryland. The Mar-Del Watermelon Association is comprised of grower and industry members working to promote the viability and profitability of the local watermelon industry. The Delmarva Peninsula is one of the top watermelon growing regions in the United States. There is an executive council, board of directors, and five officer positions. All are served on a volunteer basis, with the exception of the promotion coordinator and watermelon queen. Click here to download a copy of the Mar-Del Watermelon Association By-laws.
